Monthly Theme: Vintage
I found this vintage silk blouse in an antique shop last fall... I wore it several times over the winter, but never put any photos of it my blog- so April's Monthly Theme is perfect!
I found it half-hidden, hung in the back of a little cubbyhole. What first attracted me was the sleeves; dramatic, draped affairs that moved like wings when I walked and immediately reminded me of bats. The high neckline has a wide embroidered insert over sheer fabric, and the blouse buttons to the left side, with an additional zipper up the back.
The tag on the inside had been almost completely removed, but due to the embroidery style for the size (6) and shoulder pads, I believe it's from the 80's.
Needless to say I think it's just fabulous, and it was only $20!
Vintage blouse worn with thrifted skirt, shoes, Talbot's stockings.

Love the top, the sleeves are so chic. x
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteOh dear! YOu look stunning. The top has a very 40's feel over it. I have a shirt with flouncing arm from the 40's. 80's was a perfect era for vintage style finds :)
ReplyDeleteYeah... when I first saw it, I did think it was 40's, but the tag told a different story. So I have a 40's style top from the 80's- just imagine how confusing vintage will be thirty years from now, LOL!
DeleteOh wow, that blouse is stunning! In fact, the entire outfit is stunning. No wait, you're stunning in that outfit!
ReplyDelete*blushing* You're so sweet!
DeleteThose sleeves are amazing! How unique that it buttons up the side AND has a zip. Beautiful shoes, too! :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah- when I first tried it on at the shop (over a tank) my dad AND my brother had to help me because I got lost in the draping... I was fluttering helplessly, trapped in a cocoon of fabric around my torso... it was pretty funny looking, I'm sure. :)
